At CR, we have 4 houses: Yellow, Purple, Orange and Green. All students and staff are a member of 1 of these teams. This year we are introducing S.A.L.T Days where everyday at lunch, house teams will compete against each other in a variety of different sports like handball, basketball, volleyball, badminton and ball hockey. Teams earn points for wearing their house colour, showing team spirit, having the greatest number of participants and winning the event. All students in each house are welcome and encouraged to join their team in the gym at lunch to participate!
· Each day will be a sport for a particular grade.
· The session is for 8 weeks in length concluding before the Christmas Break. The second session will occur when students return after the Christmas Break.
· You will get points for participating (1 point per person).
· You have to be inside the school in order to participate meaning no one from outside is coming to bring lunch for you or you cannot go out for lunch and return. If you’re outside, you stay outside! No food is permitted in either gym or changing room areas. YOU MUST BE PRESENT! FIRST COME, FIRST SERVE!!
· Rules for each sport will be posted on the board, please review them below.
· YOU MUST BE WEARING YOUR HOUSE COLOUR AND GYM ATTIRE. FAILURE TO ADHERE TO THIS WILL RESULT IN YOUR REMOVAL FROM PARTICIPATING THAT DAY.
INTRAMURAL RULES (Basketball)
· Prior to the start of intramural games students must present their house colour t-shirt.
· NO HOUSE COLOUR - NO PLAY!
· To begin the game, each team must have a minimum of four (4) players on the court, dressed, and ready to play at the scheduled starting time. A delay of 5 minutes will take place during this time. The amount of time that the start of the game was delayed will be subtracted from play. Should a team still have too few players following the delay, the offending team will default the game.
· Players will call their own fouls. Note that continued arguing over fouls results in lost time as the time is running.
· No timeouts for any team. Substitutions will be allowed during every dead ball (out of bounds or fouls). Every 5 minutes will allow for mandatory substitutions. Everyone must play!
· No free throws will occur. Any foul will result in the ball taken out of bounds to be inbounded.
· The supervising teacher may (at his/her discretion) stop a game if they feel play has become too rough (e.g., frequent intentional fouls & repeated swearing).
· Fighting, repeated swearing or inappropriate conduct will not be tolerated and offenders will be immediately ejected from the game and must leave the playing area.
INTRAMURAL RULES (Volleyball)
· Prior to the start of intramural games students must present their house colour t-shirt.
· NO HOUSE COLOUR - NO PLAY!
· To begin the game, each team must have a minimum of five (5) players on the court, dressed, and ready to play at the scheduled starting time.
· Should a team be reduced to less than 5 players at any given time (due to ejections or injuries) that team will forfeit the game.
· All matches are a 1 set game using a rally point system (every play counts for a point) to 25 points (capped at 27) and/or timed to a maximum of 30 minutes.
· Both overhand and underhand serves are permitted, for players of either gender.
· A 5-serve maximum is in place. After 5 team points are scored with the same person serving, the team is forced to rotate with a new server.
· Substitution takes place on a rotational basis, taken after from rotating from the service position.
· It is obligatory to substitute on every rotation.
· Fighting, repeated swearing or inappropriate conduct will not be tolerated and offenders will be immediately ejected from the game and must leave the playing area.
INTRAMURAL RULES (Co-Ed Volleyball)
· In addition to the rules for volleyball, the following rules take place FOR CO-ED VOLLEYBALL ONLY:

· Maximum: 3 males or 3 females on the court at any one time.
· MALE players may only spike from behind the 3m line (i.e. must initiate the spiking motion from behind the 3m line, but may land in front of the line after the spike).
· FEMALE front row players may spike from anywhere on the floor. Back court hitting regulations still apply.
· If a MALE player contacts the ball above the height of the net (ball is entirely above the net) and the player's foot is touching (or has touched) the ground on or in front of the attack line, the attack/hit must have an upward trajectory.
