Expressions of First Nations: Metis and Inuit Cultures (NAC 1O8)
The Expressions of First Nations, Metis and Inuit Cultures course allows students to examine First Nations, Metis and Inuit (FNMI) art and texts while acting ethically and responsibly to create art works. The art forms, genres, styles, and techniques taught in NAC1O are rooted in richly diverse FNMI histories, perspectives, and cultures. Education in FNMI arts not only deepens students’ understanding and appreciation of Indigenous art making, both past and present, but also prepares them to be active participants in bringing about social change by supporting reconciliation and promoting mutually respectful relationships.
