In using technology, students are encouraged to reflect on how they learn best, be flexible, resilient and persistent thinkers through a variety of 21st century digital learning tools including Google Classroom and Google workspace tools.
By completing various tasks, they practice collaborate and communicate in person and online with classmates.
The effective use of digital learning tools supports a student's understanding, communication of knowledge and achievement in all subject areas. Students are encouraged to develop digital fluency (creation and use of tools) and digital citizenship through inquiry and learning activities.
There is a TDSB Board-wide program called Read and Write Gold, in order to support the learning preferences and needs of a variety of students. Read and Write Gold supports decoding of text, supports deeper reading comprehension and written expression (spell check, word prediction). Other tools in Read and Write Gold support inquiry and organization of research information and ideas.
The right tool for the right purpose.
Read and Write Gold supports Universal Design of Learning principles: tools - essential for some but good for all.
