Following is an explanation of how the library resolves overdue and missing library items. First, there are no fees or fines for overdue or lost items. If a student forgets to bring a book back on library day, they are reminded to bring it back next time and sign out a new book. If this happens frequently, the librarian or home room teacher might send a written reminder home. (This notice may be in form of an email or paper note.)
Three times a year, written notices are sent to families whose children have unreturned materials:
Prior to the mid-winter break in December
Prior to the March Break
Early June, prior to the end of school
Important: If you receive a form listing overdue materials that you believe have been returned
Initial the items
Send the notice to your child’s teacher, who will give it to me.
I will clear the overdues and update your child’s account.
Please follow the above procedure if you believe the items were signed out to your child in error.
Lost Materials: Please communicate with the homeroom teacher if you believe that you have lost a book. It is very common for younger children to misplace books. Youngsters are learning to take care of a number of items each day and often transition from school to after-school activities, daycare, caregivers’ homes, and other households. Some children feel upset about receiving overdue notices, and it’s important to make sure they understand this is merely a reminder, as they are learning to take on new responsibilities.
At this time the Bowmore library will not be receiving any donations. Thank you.
