ABOUT ME

I chose teaching as my profession because not only do I love working with kids but I also believe it is one of the best ways to make a difference in my community. As a person of visible minority, one of my core beliefs as an educator is to create a classroom that is inclusive and equitable of the diverse backgrounds of the students and their families in the Toronto District School Board (TDSB). Teaching should be a partnership with the parents to nurture and support the needs of each student. It is my passion for teaching that will drive me to promote global citizenship in my students using cross curricular teaching, engaging material and a program that is driven by the interests of my students. I went to the Queen’s University for my degree in Psychology and the University of Toronto for my teaching degree. I have had many different teaching experiences from teaching in ESL classrooms, Special Education classrooms, Kindergarten – 6, music, gym and dance. Throughout the years, I have found my passion to incorporate technology as a tool to engage learners of all different abilities and interests (e.g., Use of Read & Write Gold, Flip Grid, Green Screen, Google Slides and a multitude of other apps) thus providing students with multiple entry points into the curriculum.
