Did you know that every publicly funded school in Ontario has a school council for parents and caregivers? School councils facilitate communication between the school, parents, and the community. The parent members of council advise the Principal on school matters, and take an active role in the life of the school.
To do the work of council, a series of committees tackle specific topics and issues, and parent involvement is always encouraged. Our proposed committees for the year focus on various initiatives:
School Council Governance
Student Success
Fundraising/Grants
Communications & Outreach
100th Anniversary of Bloor CI
Library Revitalization
Your participation improves the student experience and supports high-quality education at your school. Research also shows that parent engagement is a key driver of student success, so consider volunteering your time and talents by supporting the school council.
School councils hold at least 4 meetings throughout the school year with the Principal, and teachers in attendance. All Bloor C.I. parents and caregivers are invited to attend these meetings. We recently held a school council meeting on November 19, with the next meeting on February 3, 2026, 6:30pm-8:00pm in the school library. Meetings are hybrid for those unable to join in-person. Please look out for email reminders so you can attend. All are welcome, and we look forward to seeing you at a future meeting!
