A New Way to Look at Professional Development

TRIADvances is a new technology-infused movement in professional development in the Triad Community School District. It represents a shift toward more individualized and inspired learning so teachers can become better at what they do. TRIADvances is rooted in individualization, the Danielson Evaluation Framework, and the 4 C's of 21st Century Learning and is made up of five primary components:

We hope this change brings about a new culture for experimentation, insight, reflection and drive to incorporate and implement technology into the already amazing classrooms in the Triad district.

About the Tech Coaches & Leaders

Adam Geisen

After having been raised in Nashville, TN, I made my way to Saint Louis University where I graduated with degrees in English and Education in 2000. I student taught at Triad during that time and was lucky enough to be hired in 2001. I’ve been teaching and coaching at the high school since then. My focus of late has been in the technology realm, and I have been a tech coach in the district since 2014. I have been married since 2003 to a teacher in a neighboring district and we have two beautiful twin boys. In the little spare time I have, I’m watching the Cardinals, learning about all things Google, playing classic rock and blues with my band Sweetbottom, and building and selling guitar effects pedals.

In 2013, I created an exploratory called Tech Lab where students learned about computer coding, digital citizenship, and the Genius Hour Project. I earned a master’s degree in Instructional Technology in 2006 from SIUE and another one in Educational Administration from McKendree University in 2012. I am currently a K-12 Instructional Technology Coach responsible for Triad Middle and High School. I’ve coached 7th grade baseball since the fall of 2000.
