Mid February
TCU 10th and 11th grade students with a cumulative GPA of 3.5 are notified via mail and email that they meet the scholarship eligibility of the TCU National Honor Society (NHS). Students are invited to complete a NHS Candidate Information Form to be considered for NHS membership.
A Titan Time NHS candidate informational meeting will take place to provide further insights on the NHS Candidate Information Form.
Mid-February - Mid-March
Candidates work on their NHS Candidate Information Forms, recommendations and submit for selection consideration. No late forms will be accepted.
NHS Candidate Information Forms are turned over to the TCU NHS Faculty Council. The Council will review all submitted NHS Candidate Information Forms and evaluate each candidate on following qualities through personal insights and recommendations:
Service (Actions undertaken by the student which are done with or on behalf of others without any direct financial or material compensation to the individual performing the service.)
Leadership (The number of offices a student has held in school or community organization, also including effective participation in other co-curricular activities.)
Character (demonstrate an outstanding record of conduct and behavior with regard to school and community rules, guidelines, and policies or be able to demonstrate sufficient growth and improvement to compensate for previous inadequacies. A person of character demonstrates the following six qualities: respect, responsibility, trustworthiness, fairness, caring, and citizenship.)
Teacher/Coach/Advisor Recommendations.
The selection of each member to the chapter shall be by a majority vote of the Faculty Council.
Mid- April
All candidates receive notification on the NHS Faculty Council's determination of selection for membership.
End of April
Induction Ceremony for new NHS members.
