A note about math foundations: Efficiency, speed and confidence with math facts are important foundations for any grade. The easier it is for a student to complete basic addition, subtraction, multiplication and division mentally, the easier it will be for them to complete more complex questions such as two-step equations and multiple-step word problems. Understanding math vocabulary is also helpful. Please have a conversation with your child about the areas that they feel confident in and what they would like to practice. Spending 15-30 minutes a day on math facts, mental math and operations will go a long way to building confidence and efficiency.
