Welcome to the Science Investigation Club 2026.
In this project, you will work as a scientist and innovator, designing and carrying out a scientific investigation focused on chemical reactions and chemical change.
Through this investigation, you will explore:
How chemical reactions cause change
How substances interact during a reaction
How evidence (data, measurements, observations) helps us understand and evaluate those changes
This project is aligned with the IB MYP Science framework and prepares you to present your work at the Science Fair.
The purpose is for you to:
Design a scientific investigation related to chemical reactions
Ask a clear, testable research question
Collect and analyze scientific evidence
Communicate your findings clearly to others
Reflect on how chemical reactions are used in real-life applications
Your team’s task is to carry out an investigation that your team will design and carry out with a high level of documenting. Remember that scientific investigations require a deep, full record of every single step that is followed. Your main tool will be the Scientific Method.
A diagram of the steps you will be following is shown.
At the end of the whole process, your work will be evaluated through the following products:
A team folder with several completed files.
Follow-up of the IB and Cambridge Science rubrics.
A final document on which every step of your process is included, results are analyzed and explained, and improvements to your procedure are suggested.
A scientific poster to present your results during the SIC 2026 presentations event in March, 2026.
