Self care looks different for everyone. Some may define taking a bubble bath and lighting a candle as self care, and others may say going for a run along the beach is self care. What is important to clarify, however, is the difference between superficial self care and genuine self care - in other words, self care that involves being vulnerable.

stretch every day to allow for endorphins to flow through your body
have an impromptu dance party to your favorite songs
meditate to recognize the strength and shallowness in each breath you take
for your brain
tune into your creativity and find an art project to start
exercise your brain by taking up puzzles or other teasers that make the gears in your brain turn
recognize negative thoughts and find the roots to them in order to alter them
for your heart
feel what you are feeling in the moment, but do not dwell on them once they have passed
validate any and all emotions you have even if they feel unwarranted
to grow
put what's going on inside on display in a productive way
seek help from a friend, family member, or most effectively a professional when you acknowledge that you are not feeling like yourself
