In the 3rd Qtr, 4th grade students continue to develop two hand home row typing proficiency.
Students learn to draw and create their own graphics using a paint and drawing program.
Students also learn how to create animated GIFs.
Students practice word processing skills and file management to complete their projects.
Students will open, save, name and rename files, as well as create and name folders throughout these weekly projects.
Digital Art | Enrichment
Students will learn to use the basic tools of a typical digital drawing program.Students will use the line drawing tool to draw lines and arrows. Student will use the text tool to label the bones. Students will also practice basic file management skills to open, modify, name, and save their work.
Instructions:
1) Students download a copy of a blank skeleton picture here:
2) Students read and follow the "Digital Drawing - Skeleton Labeling" instructions below.
3) Students open the skeleton image in a digital drawing program of your choice. The program used in this example is Paint.NET, a free windows drawing program.
4) Students use arrows and text to identify and label the skeleton bones.
5) Students save their work, then insert the completed skeleton into a word processor and print.

Students will learn to use the basic tools of a typical digital graphics program to draw and paint a robot.. Students will use a variety of tools such as the shape tools , line tool, bucket fill tool, eraser tool, text tool, as well as the undo and redo tools to create the drawing.
Students will also practice basic file management skills to open, modify, name, and save their work.
Instructions:
1) Students create a new blank canvas sized 1024 x 768px in the Paint drawing program.
2) Students use the step-by-step "Draw a Robot" sheet to guide their drawing progress.
3) Students save their work, then insert the finished graphic into a word processor and print.

Instructions:
1) Students create a new blank canvas about 800 x 600px or 1024 x 768px in the Paint drawing program.
2) Students use the step-by-step "Draw a Happy Puppy" sheet to guide their drawing progress.
3) Students add a background scene with extra objects of their choice (plants, dog toy, dog bone, etc.)
4) Students save their work, then insert the finished graphic into a word processor and print.
