Scotula Navaratnasingham

Scotula is a high school teacher who is currently working at St. Michael's Choir school teaching Science and Phys. Ed. She holds an Honours Bachelor of Science degree from U of T, a Bachelor of Education degree from U of O and has a Master of Education in Literacy from Mount Saint Vincent University. She is a Tamil advocate and recently took a delegation to the school board to have an official proclamation made to pronounce January as Tamil heritage month and it is now celebrated in every school within the school board.

How to Wear a Saree 5 Different Ways- Everyone Welcome!!


Description: Have you always wanted to learn how to drape a saree? Have you always worn a saree one way and want to learn new and different styles out there so you too can have versatility in the ways you wear it? If you answered yes, you have to join this workshop!!

This workshop is for ALL TCDSB Staff, Students and Parents/Guardians!


In this workshop you will learn the following styles:

1. Normal or Nivi Style

2. Bengali style

3. Marathi or dhoti style

4. Lehenga style

5. Mermaid style



Items needed for this Workshop:

A saree, a crop top or t-shirt, an underskirt or tights, 5 safety pins, and a belt.

If you don't have a saree, you could use or purchase approximately 5-6 yards of fabric to start.



Please join our How to Wear a Saree 5 Different Ways workshop on May 19th at 6pm for an hour of learning the tricks and techniques used to wear the most beautiful attire in South Asia.
