I am a proud Chinese Canadian who values the many opportunities to learn and cultivate meaningful relationships with the diverse peoples of Turtle Island. I aspire to collaborate with other educators to dismantle systematic and structural barriers that prevent racialized students and educators from achieving representation, voice and success. In my work as a Centrally Assigned Principal, I strive to build teacher leadership by infusing instructional coaching scholarship to empower student voice.

The Program:

Addressing Anti-Asian Racism through Social Justice and CRRP

Date and Time: May 20 @ 5:30-7:00 pm (for teachers)

Description: Curriculum tells us what to teach. But, as educators we have the agency on how to teach. This workshop will explore three inter-related factors of our agency. First is the impact racial bias, discrimination, and hate have on identity, wellbeing, and success for students. Second, a social justice framework is used to discuss Canada’s history of racism and the lived experiences of then and now. And third, this workshop will illustrate dismantling structural racism as barriers to student success by providing CRRP learning and student voice.

Speakers: Gen-Ling Chang, Kien Luu & Sandy Yep
