Westend Volunteers
A local grade 9 student has put together an initiative to help students find virtual and "contact-less" ways of serving the community getting their volunteer hours despite restrictions due to COVID. Some previous opportunities have included:
writing letters/creating artwork for seniors
distributing flyers for fundraisers at hospitals and non-profit organizations
creating artwork for a holiday card fundraiser
community clean up events
youth mentorship
tutoring
tech assistance for seniors
community food drives
putting together medical relief kits

Employment Opportunities
Types of Positions Positions available in recreation include jobs working with children, youth, adults and seniors. You can work in various program areas, including aquatics, arts and culture, camps, pre-school, community programs, fitness and wellness and sports. Jobs are located across the city in community centres, parks, pools, arenas and city-owned museums and cultural centres.

Ontario Science Centre | Science School - Grade 11 students in Ontario who love science and innovation can apply for a unique science learning experience. Apply for a full semester of Grade 12 science and math. Students will earn credits that line up with the Ontario curriculum, work with students and staff on projects designed to engage in a one of a kind innovation class. Application Deadline is March 1.
2024 Youth in Policing Initiative Summer Program - Application deadline is February 4. This is an amazing opportunity for students that permanently reside in the city of Toronto (between 15 - 18 years old) to get an insight of the Toronto Police Service. Digital Poster.
UHN STEM Pathways - Free opportunities for students. In these 1-hour career sessions youth will hear from UHN professionals who study and/or work in diverse fields. Mini Medical School - Dalhousie Mini Medical School Program.
StAR program - Provides Black, Filipino, and Indigenous (includes First Nations [status or non-status], Inuk, and Métis peoples) high school students with a paid first-hand perspective of the research currently underway at SickKids. The goal of this program is to provide students with a unique work experience over six weeks in the summer (July to mid-August). Application Deadline is January 29.

Kids Science Summer Mentorship Program invites a select group of high school students in August to SickKids, where they will interact with and learn from SickKids’ world-renowned researchers, doctors, and more. Enriched Support Program (ESP) Application - Carleton University does not base its admissions decisions on high school or college grades alone. Students cannot apply to ESP through the Ontario University Application Centre. Instead, APPLY FOR FALL 2024. Deadline is June 15.
Future Aces is hosting free webinars with Queen's University Access and Inclusion team: Free Webinar "Post-Secondary 101", designed for students grades 9-12, Thursday, March 7 at 4:30 PM. The Q.U. Equity Ambassadors will share what students can expect in college or university.

IMMspire (or formerly known as 'Immunology on Campus') - is a program held by the Department of Immunology at University of Toronto, St. George Campus. IMMspire is aimed to provide interactive experience in Immunology to high school students that are interested in learning about Immunology research. This year, it will feature interactive activities (workshops, campus tours, escape room), presentations from professors, talks from graduate students, Q&As with undergraduate students from the Department of Immunology, and more. Experiences Canada: 2024 National Hybrid Youth Forum on Reconciliation: Open to youth ages 15-18. A blend of virtual webinars (April 2024) and in-person interaction (Ottawa July 3-7) where youth will explore a crucial topic, connect with their peers, and develop their leadership skills.
