COMMUNITY INVOLVEMENT UPDATES:

• Toronto Public Library (TPL) Volunteer Programs – Various positions, each with their own application process, which can be found by clicking on the links below.

  • Leading to Reading volunteers provide one-on-one support for children in Grade 1 through 6 who are struggling to read at their grade level.

  • Seniors e-Connect volunteers (ages 13-17) help seniors improve their computer skills under the instruction, guidance and support of TPL staff.

  • Teen Council volunteers (ages 13-17) work with staff to enhance library service to teens.

• Friends of Toronto Public Library volunteers run the BOOKEnds used books stores at Toronto Reference Library and North York Central branch. 

• Baycrest Volunteer Programs - Contact the Volunteer Services Department at 416-785-2500 ext. 2572 or email volunteer@baycrest.org for opportunities.

• Volunteer with Unity Health Network - St.Joseph’s Health Centre, St. Michael’s Hospital, & Providence Health Care. 

• New volunteering opportunity for TCDSB students (15+) with William Osler Health Network - Etobicoke General Hospital coming soon. 60 Hour commitment. Application required. After school and summer shifts available.

• Longo’s Centre for Entrepreneurship - A FREE four-day experience from March 16 -19 from 9 AM - 4 PM daily. Grades 9-12 high school students will explore entrepreneurship, creativity, leadership, and innovation offered by The Humber Polytechnic. Lunch & snacks included. In-person at Humber Polytechnic IGS ( Humber Downtown Campus) - 59 Hayden Street, Unit 400. Register here. Earn 20 Community Involvement Hours. Deadline to apply February 14. 

• Sending Sunshine - Writing cards to Seniors.

• William Osler Health System - Application Deadline is ongoing: Brampton Civic, Etobicoke General and Peel Memorial. Learn more about hospitals and consider health care as a potential career.
