The Brebeuf College School Mathematics Department continues to be at the forefront of modern mathematics educational practices. Despite the current pandemic situation, our teachers have continued to provide valuable, up to date insights and instruction in mathematics. By utilizing technological platforms such as Google Meet, D2L, Google Classroom, Knowledge Hook and various other services, Brebeuf teachers can deliver quality instruction that will strengthen the mathematical understanding of our students. Caring Teachers that stay in contact with parents and deliver timely feedback as to the progress of their sons is one of the many assets of our department. Brebeuf College mathematics also offers to students a highly specialized program in enriched mathematics through the new STEAM program. This program focuses on imparting superior skills and knowledge to the students in order to prepare them for leadership roles in their university programs and classes. For parents considering a top-quality Catholic School that will deliver a well-rounded mathematics education to their sons, Brebeuf College School is certainly an institution that merits careful consideration.
Brebeuf College mathematics teachers are using online instructional tools such as Google Classroom and D2L. Within the platform is the ability to not only message and interact with an entire class of students, but also the ability to add parents email and contact information into the platform, such that they can in real time be aware of what events are occurring in their son's class. Furthermore, teachers are aware of their responsibility to stay in contact by phone with parents of students that are either experiencing learning, emotional, behavioural, or attendance issues while in the care of the individual teacher. Parents, therefore, can make inquiries of their son's teacher regarding curriculum and performance, and are encouraged to email the teacher whenever clarification is required.
Brebeuf is a Catholic Secondary School. As such, formal courses in religion are taught at every grade level. All Brebeuf students take a religion course for each year from Grades 9-12. This is in accordance with the policy of the Archdiocese of Toronto, the Toronto Catholic District School Board, and Brebeuf College School. For those graduating, a Grade 12 Religion credit is required in order to participate in the graduation ceremony.
Retreats are held once a year in every religion course. Retreat days are considered a regular school day. Attendance is mandatory and parental support is expected.
Religion Class Retreats will be taking place in our Chaplaincy Center and Chapel or at Blessed Trinity Parish.
