FAQs

 

When do I register for summer school?

Summer school registration begins in May and runs right up until July when summer school starts.  Summer school for 2024 will be July 3th to July 26th for session 1

 

How do I register for summer school?

From mid-May onwards, registration forms and a list of courses will be available.  You just fill out the registration form and give it to your guidance counsellor.

 

If I plan to take a course in summer school, should I put it on my course selection?

If you plan to take a course in summer school, don’t include it on your course requests.  Just fill that spot with something else.  When you click “review course requests” in myBlueprint, you will see an “Add Comment” box.  In that box,  you can mention which course(s) you plan to take in summer school.

 

What happens if I plan to take a course in the summer but I don’t take it or I fail it?

You can contact your guidance counsellor by email before school starts to ask your counsellor to add the course back into your schedule.  We’ll do what we can to get that course for you.


Is summer school all day?

You should plan to be in school from around 8:45-2:30.  Specific hours will be available when the summer school info is released.


Is summer school online or in person?

There are two options for summer school: 

Not all classes are available in both modes.  In mid-May summer school registration will be open and the new flyer will indicate which delivery model is available for the course you want.


Can I take more than one summer school credit?

You can take a maximum of twe eclasses or one remote course and one eclass.


Can I miss a week of summer school and still get the credit?

It is not advised to take a summer school course if you are not going to be available for the duration of the course.

 

How does Bishop Allen get my summer school/Saturday school/night school marks?

Any course you take with the TCDSB will have marks sent to BA automatically.  If you take a private course or a course with another school board, you must bring your report card to your guidance counsellor so that they can add your mark to your transcript

 

How do I sign up for Night School/Saturday School?

Night school courses and registration forms are posted at the start of each semester and you can register by submitting a registration form to your guidance counsellor.

Saturday school information and registration forms are posted only in September and you can register by filling out a registration form and submitting it to your guidance counsellor.  You cannot join a Saturday school course in semester 2 because they run all year.

 

When does Night School start? 

Night school begins about 3 weeks after the semester begins and runs to the end of the semester

 

How often do I have to go to Night School?

You will attend night school 2 nights/week from about 6pm -9:15pm

 

When does Saturday school start?

Saturday school begins at the end of September and runs every week until the beginning of June.

 

Is Saturday school all day?

Saturday school only runs for half days, in the mornings.

 

What happens if I want to drop a Night School/Summer School course?

Grade 11s and 12s can drop a course without penalty (so the course will “disappear”) before the mid-term (grade 9s and 10s can drop without penalty any time).  If you decide to drop a course at night school/Saturday school or summer school, you must contact the office there to let them know and they will need parental permission to have you withdrawn from the course.
