HEALTH/PHYSICAL EDUCATION
The TCCS Health curriculum is designed to provide students with developmentally appropriate knowledge and skills that support their physical, mental, emotional, and social well-being. The Grades 5–8 Health program follows a spiraled approach and is aligned with the 2020 New Jersey Student Learning Standards (NJSLS) for Comprehensive Health and Physical Education.
Students are introduced to age-appropriate and relevant health concepts beginning in Grade 5, with content and skills building in complexity as students progress through middle school. Throughout the curriculum, students develop essential life skills, including effective communication, goal setting, character development, time management, conflict resolution, refusal skills, strategies for navigating peer pressure, responsible decision-making, and stress and anger management.
The curriculum emphasizes the application of these skills to real-life situations, empowering students to make informed decisions, develop healthy relationships, manage challenges, and take greater responsibility for their overall health and well-being.
