Year 6 End of Primary Discos
We are very excited to announce that the Year 6 End of Year Disco will take place on Friday 16th June between 4.00 pm and 5.30 pm in the Drama Studio. This will be an opportunity to celebrate their time in Year 6 and spend time together before the summer break.
Children are invited to dress formally if they wish, but it is optional.
There will be dancing in the drama studio followed by snacks and drinks at Cafe Yeti at 5.00 pm. If you wish to donate snacks, please contact either Ms.Ealy or Mr. Akkari, but again this is optional. If you wish to donate, the Dance Committee will be collecting funds to support our community partner school, but there is no fee to attend the Dance.
Children may be collected at 2.30 pm as normal to go home and change and then return to school for a 4 pm start - if this is an issue, please let us know so we can organise care for those unable to be collected.
The children on the Dance Committee will be able to stay in school to help set up the Drama Studio and can change into their dance clothes before the event begins.
We are very pleased to be able to give the children a fabulous end to Year 6, and know they are all very excited too!

Battle of the Books - Year 6
In Year 6, we are very excited to take part in the Battle of the Books with this round of books which will commence after the February break. This ongoing project encourages children to engage in the sustained reading of a variety of authorial styles and provides a platform for them to debate, discuss and compare books. As in the first round, we are taking three books and giving the Year 6 students until Monday 13th June to read them all. The chosen book from each round will then be subject to a grand finale at the end of June.
The books in this round are: Wheel of Surya by Jamila Gavin, Windrush Child by Benjamin Zephaniah and Tell me no Lies by Malorie Blackman.
Where possible, we would encourage purchasing of these books via Kindle or the Kindle App for independent reading. We also have multiple copies of each book available in our library for children to borrow.
We hope your children enjoy these chosen reads; please do not hesitate to get in touch with us should you have any questions.
Please could parents and carers use the following link to indicate if your child intends to take part in the tryouts for the upcoming FOBISIA games.

In Year 6, we are very excited to begin our Battle of the Books. This ongoing project encourages children to engage in the sustained reading of a variety of authorial styles, and provides a platform for them to debate, discuss and compare books. Eventually they will vote on books to go through to the next round. We are taking three books in the first round and giving the Year 6 students until Monday 3rd February 2020 to read them all. Term 3 will have a second round of books, before a grand finale in the summer term.
Copies of each book will be made available in our library and on the school Kindles for children to borrow. We have also partnered with Ekta Books located at Prasuti Griha Marg in Thapathali, who have the books in stock if children would like to add them to their private libraries.
As we have moved on from our COVID restrictions, including spreading out entrancing and exiting students, we can now move back to our pre-COVID systems. We will therefore be closing the small gate from 8:05 am daily until the end of term. At the start of Term 3 (10th January 2023), we will no longer use the gate for drop off or pick up.
We have been pleased to be able to welcome parents to the Yeti cafe in the mornings and the coffee shop is open from 8 am to 8:30. To help us keep our Early Years children focussed on their morning learning activities, we request that parents sit in the area in front of the coffee shop, so they are not in view of our Early Years children. For those of you enjoying time on campus after school, we would like to remind everyone that children need to be actively supervised at all times to ensure their safety and ensure that their games do not disturb any secondary lessons or clubs that are going on at that time.
We very much appreciate your support with these issues.
