Supporting your child at home
What to Expect
The Early Years curriculum can seem hard to understand at first glance, especially to anyone not familiar with a play based curriculum. This link gives a clear understanding of what we are teaching your children and what exciting learning opportunities you can look for as adults.
Maths
Once again no Maths homework is sent in Foundation 1. This shouldn't stop you discussing Maths with your child throughout their time at home. Find chances to count objects around them, talk about more or less, discuss what shapes you can see or compare different quantities. Maths should be fun and rooted in the world around your child!
Reading
In Foundation 1 we do not send reading homework home. However this shouldn't mean their should be no reading happening at home. Daily reading to your child has been shown to be one of the greatest positive impacts on a child's Literacy levels later on in life. We recommend daily reading of story to your child, which can be in any language they are familiar with. Children also bring a library book home every Monday and this can be a great book to share with them.
Cooking
Cooking is an amazing activity to do with any child. It has numerous positive impacts across a range of areas in your child's learning.
