This committee will hold its first meeting at 11:00 a.m. on Thursday, October 30. Some District Directors will serve as advisors to this group. One will preside over the opening meeting and will ask the group to select the chair, who must be an appointed member of your committee and an official Convention voting delegate.
Links to the one-page summary, letters of support for the programs being considered, and the college websites are in the sidebar to the left. The appealing chapters will be represented at the Convention by at least one student delegate.
The programs being appealed do not meet the criteria of Const. Art. II, Sec. 2(a). Only such programs that receive the approval of the Convention shall be considered engineering programs and may be added to chapter bylaws for the purpose of defining the membership eligibility of students. A link to an information sheet on program eligibility and additional information, guidelines, and procedures are included in the links provided.
The committee should first discuss among yourselves the procedures to follow in interviewing the chapter representatives. Each student shall be requested to attend the meeting, make brief statements about the appeal, and answer questions that may not be fully explained in the documents and college website. In addition, the committee should reach out to the present representatives of the appealing chapters for any additional information. The appealing chapters have been advised to check-in with your committee on Thursday at 4:15 p.m.
Your chair will make individual recommendations to the Convention during the Third Business Meeting with respect to approval of programs on Saturday morning. This committee is responsible for informing the Convention of all background information it needs to act upon your report and recommendations.
The committee's motion with regard to the approval of an appealed program at an institution opens the Convention to discussion. The committee is responsible for examining and discussing the details of each appeal and identifying the most important information so the Convention can make a wise decision.
Please provide electronic copies of all files, motions, reports, and proposals to the Convention Chair and Executive Director via email (tbp.convbus@tbp.org) prior to the Business Meeting when a report will be presented.
