The circle test

In this activity, learners are given a page with empty circles (or other simple shapes, lines), and they then turn the circles into as many pictures/objects as they can. Coming back to the same object time and time again leads to disruptive thinking for the person doing the task, allowing them to create something new each time.

How did you do?

To evaluate this task, you’d look at the following things:

  • Fluency - How many different drawings can you make?

  • Originality - How unique are the different objects drawn? Combining more than one circle to create objects shows creative thinking to a higher level.

  • Elaboration - Level of detail included.
