Introduction

Laura Jane Wragg was born on 23/09/1974 in Chesterfield, England, to Christopher John Somerset Wragg and Gwyneth Jane Wragg. Laura was the second child with three siblings. The first born sibling, Marcus Alexander Wragg, born 26/04/1972 sadly died on 11/09/1991 age 19 years from cancer. Adrian Christopher Wragg, born 23/12/1980 and Tamsin Elizabeth Wragg 27/11/1983 still live in England. Laura moved to New Zealand in the year 2000.

Laura attended All Saints Infants School when she was 5 years old (1979 - 1981) then all Saints Primary School from 7 to 10 years old (1981 - 1985). Laura went to Highfields School at 11 years old until 18 years old (1985 - 1992). Whilst Laura was at school she worked at a variety of jobs, first at a little Italian restaurant called La Caverna in Matlock Bath when she was fourteen (1988-1989) for one year, then at a cafe called The Winged Wheel (1989-1990). Her last part time job whilst at school was at the Somerfield Supermarket (1990‐1992). Laura went to university and studied Information Systems. After completing her degree she worked at Sema group (1994‐2000), first as the Systems Safety Registrar then a Systems Safety Consultant and finally as a Business Development Consultant.

Laura moved to New Zealand in the year 2000 on a plane arriving in March, she lived with her friends Helen and Kirree. She travelled for a bit and in July 2000 she got a job at Northland Health looking at Data Quality. She left eighteen months later and started doing her post graduate diploma in Primary Teaching. Then she started teaching at Russell School from (2003‐2006). She left the job because she gave birth to Finn Jack Aorangi Fleming on 09/12/2006 in Whangarei and stopped teaching. Then four years later on 08/12/2010 she gave birth to Effie Jane Awa Fleming in Tauranga. Four years after being a full time mum to Effie she started working at Envirohub as General Manager until the present day.

Push factors

1: Cold, it's freezing in England and in New Zealand it is much warmer. Laura hates the cold but in New Zealand it's a lot warmer all year round.

2: Travel, Laura wanted to travel and has always wanted to visit New Zealand.

Discussion of push factors

Laura hates the cold, in Winter she wears layers and layers of clothes and lots of merino inside and out and she always keeps the fire cranking. In England it's not just cold in winter it's sometimes cold in summer as well, but in New Zealand the weather is stunning with lots or sunshine even in winter. Personally I hate the cold as well so I'm glad she moved to New Zealand.

New Zealand is a beautiful country and is wonderfully place to explore and travel.

Was it the income that made her move to New Zealand?

Well the average income in England is typically higher than in New Zealand and the cost of living lower, but her job in England was a much better income, so the main reason she moved to New Zealand was because she loved the place, the climate and wanted to travel.

Pull Factors

1: Her Friends Helen and Kirree lived in New Zealand.

2: The location was perfect, Laura loves nature.

Discussion of Pull Factors

1: Two of Laura's best friends lived in New Zealand Helen and Kirree and the other two lived in England, so Laura had to decide which location was better, she chose New Zealand. Later Helen and Kirree moved back to England and Kirree came back but laura still stayed in New Zealand and loved its nature and later became an environmentalist. I personally think the location was more important and New Zealand is just such an amazing place, especially the beach and it's too crowded in England, but NZ is perfect.

What Laura's doing now...

Laura works full time at Envirohub as General Manager and has two kids Finn 13 and Effie 9 and a cat called Wilbur. She loves tennis but doesn't have that much time to play.

Conclusion

As we know now Laura Jane Wragg migrated to New Zealand in the year 2000, she has two children, she works as an environmentalist and has a cat. All her family live in England, but Laura was drawn to New Zealand and has lived here for 20 years. Her parents visit every year and spend their winter here in the New Zealand summertime for 3 months. Laura now calls New Zealand home.
