100 million people worldwide are homeless. But in NZ we have about 11 thousand homeless people these stats are shocking
Hello, I'm Daniel and I will be talking about classism and homelessness we will talk about how we can help homeless people, what is classism, and how we can stop classism.
Did you know in Russia 1917 -1979 Russian people were Communists which means that if you were a doctor or a count down worker they would get the same pay?
In Tauranga alone, there are over 4000 people who experience homelessness. Some of these people are begging on the side of the road to get food and warmth but you think twice about giving them money because it's very stereotypical that they buy alcohol and cigarettes and drugs, which most of the time is ture becasue the are using drugs to ignore the fact of not having a house.
A quote from my song says
She calls out to the man on the street "Sir, can you help me?
It's cold and I've nowhere to sleep Is there somewhere you can tell me?" He walks on, and doesn't look back He pretends he can't hear her and Starts to whistle as he crosses the street. So thats shows a big example of what people think of others like homeless people.
What is classism?
Classism is a worldwide issue because it affects everyone in different ways. Classism has a very big effect on homelessness because it's about the high ranking of money and wealth that homeless people do not have.
Classism is the difference between rich and poor and the income levels that put people at the top, middle or bottom of society.
People are trying to say to the rich people to give money to poor people to get equality so it would make life better but on the other hand, there will be disagreements and people complaining about it I think that it shouldn't happen because people who have paid attention to life and worked hard in their job would now have money to spend fritter it away and end up back in the same place as before back on the street and begging what do you think will happen
How does homelessness affect people?
35% of homeless use drugs and are alcoholics and 20 -25% of homeless people are mentally ill. The rates of depression and suicide are over the top when it comes to homelessness over 65% of adult homeless people have suicidal thoughts. Their self-esteem is declining by the minute and their self-confidence is declining that's why they use drugs and drink. people are talking about the effects of homelessness and their health mental and physical they did not have the care or treatment they deserved when they were homeless.
how can we stop classism?
We can't stop classism but we can help it. There are lots and lots of homeless shelters to donate to and help out. Tamaki house is an extensive program where homeless people can go and eat food with warmth and other homeless people and that's one of the reasons you should donate to the organisation. The other opinion is to spread awareness about the big issue as well as donate food and goods. well that is what I will be doing
Solutions for homeless people
rehabilitation for addiction
Shelters (where to put them?)
Well, that concludes my speech I highly recommend that you should donate to food banks and those organisations but not just one tin gve 7 or 8 tins which could help out a family or a homeless person in need.
Cheers
