Introduction
In this inquiry, I have chosen a foreign policy officer job. The foreign policy officer represents a country when they go to different countries. Their job is to negotiate treaties and agreements with other countries. They also report and study economic and political development and they give policy advice to the government. The great thing about being a foreign policy officer is the obvious one is pay which is 150,000 gross at its most. After taxes, it's 107,586 you also travel overseas so you get to see a lot of countries and experience different cultures. Although the job pays high and you get to go to other countries. It does not go without its challenges such as you might be away in other countries for long periods of time. So you won't be home for considerable periods of time and won't see your family and friends.
Qualification
The qualifications needed to become a foreign policy officer are an undergraduate or a postgraduate and a political science degree. You would also need a relevant public or private sector which is organisations. But the difference between the public and private sectors is the government or another state-run body runs the public sector. The private sector is run by an individual, businesses or other groups.
In this next section, I have made a chart comparing the pay of a foreign to other jobs
In this chart, I have chosen three other jobs to compare to my selected job foreign policy officer. The columns represent the pay for each job and how much they get paid with the numbers on the side. On the bottom is the title of the jobs with the jobs being my job foreign policy officer, and policy analyst.
Qualities
The qualities that could be required are speaking skills being committed and being respectful. I feel that these qualities are required because the speaking skills part of being a foreign policy officer is negotiating agreements and treaties. Because when you negotiate you usually want the agreement or treaty to be good. So you need good speaking skills to get a good outcome. Being committed is simple to explain you need to be committed to any job you want to keep. Then there is being respectful which is essential since being a foreign policy officer has to be respectful since you will be overseas and meeting a lot of people and you'll be in a lot of countries with their own traditions and cultures.
Competencies
The important competencies for a foreign policy officer are cultural understanding and communication and analytical skills. Cultural understanding since foreign policy officers will be overseas and all the countries you will be going to will obviously have different cultures. So understanding other cultures is important because culture can influence a lot of stuff such as trade and who a country wants to be allied or partners with so it would be necessary. Communication is essential in nearly anything in life and being a foreign policy officer communication is key for communicating with others who work with you. And other people from countries to help new Zealand’s interests overseas. There are also analytical skills you would need this competence for studying and reporting economic development. These could be for seeing how much your country's GDP and GDP per capita have risen or fallen.

Deliberate acts in year 10
The deliberate acts I must take in year ten are to get cl 5m in every subject and start to understand new zealand politics more. This will help me since my job includes getting a political science degree to qualify for my chosen job. I cloud start doing cricket to build my communication and commitment. Being respectful could help me in my job so debating could help me with that since I would have to be civil and respectful while debating the opposing side. Getting better speaking skills is key to many things in life so debating could also help me with this.
Deliberate acts in senior school
The deliberate acts I would have to take in senior school would be first off getting nca lvl 2 and 3 with an E and hopefully endorsement with it. Since this would better my chance of getting into uni. I would also probably joindo yYoung Natsnates to build my commitment by joining it and trying to do everything I can in it to build my commitment. Being a foreign policy officer I will be in countries at time so having a cultural understanding would be good so doing youth un would be good since the un is involved in many many things in countries. And joiningdoing yYouth UNun could help me understand cultures better. Communication wise I could do senior speech competition to help build my confidence in speaking.
Conclusion
In conclusion, the deliberate act I should do between now and the time that I start my chosen career as a foreign policy officer to set me apart from other applicants is to be committed to my goal of getting my job. By taking part in extracurricular activities after school like sports. I could also do a job to help with communication, commitment and respectfulness.
