"The Kentucky Department of Education’s Student Technology Leadership Program (STLP) uses project-based learning principles to empower student learning and achievement. Liam Rose and Landon Tucker placed 2nd their first time competing at the STLP State Championship this April!
The Sphero Hero competition has many components and a rigorous elimination process. Rose and Tucker had to submit their story idea, the plans for their construction and coding, and more to be accepted into the final round (Level Three) for the high school event on April 24th, 2026.
Sphero Hero requires students to not only code the Sphero, but to time it perfectly with their stories. No adjustments can be made, the Sphero must run on its own!
Logan Allen won 3rd place in the SumoBots Challenge!
This was Allen's first time competing at STLP!
In SumoBots, students must code their robot beforehand to dodge, hit, or evade the opposing robot.
Isaiah Ortiz and Hunter Sluder placed 4th in the Robot Royale Robotic Line Follow Challenge!
This was Ortiz's and Sluder's ever time comepting at STLP!
In the Robot Royale Line Follow Challenge, students have three chances to code their robot and test its speed. Robots must follow the white line; each time it steps off the line, five seconds are added to their total.
The following students advanced to Level Two (STLP State Championship) for their projects. Their projects had to be a technological solution to a problem in their school or community.
Soothing Sounds
Students cultivated a playlist across multiple platforms and other resources to spread awareness for anxiety and depression.
Shuttle Bus
Using a Raspberry Pi and Amazon-bought lights, these students found a way to display each set of lights in all TCHS classrooms to solve our "missing the shuttle bus" issue.
Lost & Found
Technological solution for the amount of lost or missing items unreturned.
TC Helpers
Student-ran initiative of Teacher's Assistants to support teacher's by creating copies, running errands, and more to allow teacher's more time to prep, plan, and grade during their school day.

EVERYONE! Boys, girls, teachers, and students! Newbies, oldies, amateurs, and experts! There is absolutely something for everyone in our club!
Nope! In fact, the sponsors are teachers and would love the opportunity to teach you! Not every project involved coding or robotics, if that's not your interest.
Nope! However, this might make doing your projects harder. Chat with a sponsor to get help and to set up meeting times outside of class!
We love questions. Please get in contact with a sponsor: Mr. Greg Evans, Mr. Grant Litton, or Ms. Katie Harris. We would love to help you.
