Our library empowers every student to explore, learn, and grow through equitable access to knowledge, innovative technology, and a welcoming space that cultivates curiosity and pride. We envision a library at the heart of our school, where every learner is inspired to achieve greatness, equipped with skills for the future, and supported in a culture of lifelong learning and community pride.
"Education is not the filling of a pail, but the lighting of a fire"
— William Butler Yeats
As a proud alumna of Taylor County High School, I'm excited to give back to the community that shaped me. I'm here to help carry forward our Cardinal Pride.
Whether I'm coaching on the court, sponsoring clubs, or guiding a student to their next favorite read, my goal is to help every student achieve and expect greatness, just like I do.
I began teaching at Taylor County High School as an Instructional Assistant in 2021, shortly after I graduated from Campbellsville University. That fall, I was hired as an Assistant Coach for the volleyball team and an English Interventionist for the freshmen class. The following school year, 2022-2023, I obtained the Library Media Specialist position, which was previously my 10-year career goal.
I am incredibly fortunate, grateful, and blessed to work in the space that I do, with the most amazing students and staff. Go Cards!!!

Coverage
We use the Common Sense Media Digital Literacy Curriculum for 9-12th grades, as well as pull from lessons in other places, such as ISTE resources.
Lessons include Digital Literacy, News & Media Literacy, Digital Ethics, Artificial Intelligence Literacy, and Digital Well-Being.
I'd love the opportunity to co-teach on research, such as discussing citations, writing ethically, how to find sources, what a good resource looks like, and more. Our Research Hub offers many resources, videos, and examples for students, as well.
We have 24 Sphero Bolt+ robots in the library available for checkout by teachers for classroom use!
Coding, AI, and robotics can be intimidating, but bringing these things into your classroom is simple.
Here are a few ideas:
Students can write a short narrative and design code and a "stage" for the Bolt+ to speed through as students narrate.
In math, students could use the Sphero Bolt+ to measure angles and distances by programming it to navigate a specific path.
In science, students could experiment with coding the Bolt+ to follow a path that simulates planetary orbits or chemical reactions.
TCHS Poster Printing is a great resource for students who need posters for their projects and teachers/staff who need signage.
Please allow 3-5 days for poster printing, as they are in high-demand and the machine often needs replacements.

Working in the library is different than working in a classroom. Students interested in a TA position in the library must be willing to handle the checking in and checking out of books (that means talking to their peers!), shelving, helping to create displays and keep the displays updated, help students search for books, beginner cataloging skills, and more.
The library runs similarly to a business! There is always stuff to do and people to help.
If this sounds like something you'd be interested in, please talk to Ms. Harris about scheduling the library as a TA when you're a Junior or Senior.
Join at Club Round-Up, or come talk to Ms. Harris about joining!
We meet once a month during 1st period on Club Days.
The Yearbook at TCHS is a very important aspect of our school. We're in charge of ensuring all clubs, organizations, sports, students, and staff are listed, as well as writing stories that capture everything notable from the school year. Understanding the basics of design (not overcrowding pages, fonts and their sizes are all the same, clean spacing, and picture choice) is needed for those in the club.
You can join by scheduling Yearbook with Ms. Harris! She will need to sign off on your scheduling paper. If you've already scheduled for the year and would like to switch into Yearbook, please see both Ms. Harris and the Guidance Counselors about switching classes.
Yearbook is only offered to two students each class period.
