Middle School students face numerous challenges to their social and emotional well-being. Students at this age are becoming more self aware, more socially aware, and more conscious of stressors in the world around them. Students may be more susceptible to peer pressure at this age, may seem moody and distant, and may experience negative peer interactions such as bullying. School Counseling can help students cope with these and other challenges through individual and group counseling. The school counselor also provides social and emotional lessons through classroom guidance as a pro-active way to help student develop the skills they need to be successful through this time of development and to build a strong foundation for their future well-being.
Students can request to meet with their counselor for any reason. Group counseling is set up based on a needs assessment completed by TCMS students early in the school year. Requests and recommendations for group counseling opportunities are also welcome.
