Meet the Teacher
This is Mr. Sprague's sixth year teaching grades 9-12 at Alps View High School. When asked why he wanted to work in Alternative Education he said; "I have always been drawn to working with students who are so-called "At-Risk-Youth", largely because I was one. When the position became available, it really drew me in, more like a calling than a job. So, I volunteered for it and now, I can honestly say, I love coming to work every day!"
Prior to teaching at Alps View, Mr. Sprague has served in the following capacities throughout his 20-year career in public education:
7th-grade Langauge Arts and History
Middle School STEM and Robotics
6th grade
2nd grade
Kindergarten
President of the District Teacher's Association
District Safety Coordinator
Principal at Weaverville Elementary and Trinity Preparatory Academy
After serving seven years as Principal he decided to go back to the classroom to be able to spend more time with his kids, Mason age 14, Emily age 16, and Tyler age 21, as well as his wife Mrs. Sprague, who is a Community Schools Counselor for THS and Alps View.
Mr. Sprague received his Administrative credential from National University. His teaching credential, and a B.A. in Liberal Arts, were both earned from Simpson University.
Although born in Massachusetts, Mr. Sprague mostly grew up in New Jersey. A town called Hazlet to be exact. He still has family back east, and he gets to visit them often which, according to Mr. Sprague, is his only opportunity to get a real slice of pizza and a legit bagel.
Mr. Sprague loves bacon, tacos, unicorns (preferably stuffed for safety reasons), Gwen Stefani, and pretty much anything deemed awesome.
When not at work Mr. Sprague loves spending time with his family and building Legos. He is a self-admitted Lego freak and is not ashamed to admit it!
When asked what his goal is for the 2025-2026 school year he responded, “To strive to be the teacher I wish I had when I was younger."
