Currently, Alps View High School utilizes exterior picnic benches for confidential meetings between students and staff, or outside agencies. During times of inclement weather, this is not an option. Additionally, Alps View High School students do not have access to a calming space for students to refocus and reground themselves. To provide a confidential meeting space to be used with students, teachers, counselors, mental health liaisons, and outside agencies, as well as a SEL Calming Room for students, Alps View High School has started work on its newest project- Bus 23. This project is up-cycling an existing 20’ decommissioned school bus (Bus 23 to be exact) and converting it into a one-of-a-kind space to meet student needs. The bus will be parked in the school garden area and remain stationary. The conversion process will include 3 phases and students will be hands-on with every phase. Phase 1- remove all bus mechanicals, fluids, and non-essentials. Phase 2- Install flooring, HVAC, electrical, and finish carpentry. Phase 3- Paint, arrange, and decorate!
