Taumarunui High School Internship

The iSports program was established in 2018 in partnership with Taumarunui High School. 2022 the partnership was extended to Te Kura Kaupapa. The high school students help support the Taumarunui Youth and Community Trust to run Interschool Activities for the local primary schools.

The students are offered professional development as part of the program. They learn the behind-the-scenes running of the sports events, where they are upskilled in reffing, marshalling, timekeeping, short video demonstrations, development of rules, and resource booklets for the schools.

This program is led by Hutia Edwards, who has supported iSports for the past 3 years.

The program has come a long way over the years, with more and more students wanting to be involved.

iSports plays a pivotal role in the Taumarunui Interschool Activities; these events and sports could not be possible without this program.

TYCT emphasises the education components of all the events offered to ensure learning for all iSports participants is at the forefront.

Hutia Edwards has been the iSports coordinator for the past 16 months.  She plays a pivotal role in supporting and mentoring the iSport students ensuring they are supported with their learning experiences.

Hutia works extremely hard behind the scenes to support what activities are coming up in the Interschool Activity calendar.  A lot of professional development planning is required to ensure the students are prepared when they are officiating at events.
