Teachers demonstrate their understanding of instructional planning and delivery by providing standards-based, data-driven, differentiated instruction that engages students, makes appropriate use of technology, and makes learning relevant for today's learners.
I have included the Unit Summary Table that I did for my Tarleton Teacher Work Sample as my artifact to demonstrate my mastery of this standard. This unit summary was a table that briefly explained my lessons for the unit I planned for my work sample. This shows mastery of this standard by showing my ability to plan lessons and units.
I learned how to, not only make one lesson plan, but also plan an entire unit based off of a topic. When planning lessons, it is important to look ahead in the planning to see how the first lesson will be used in a later lesson as well as things that may need to be covered to help with future lessons.
Teachers work to ensure high levels of learning, social-emotional development, and achievement outcomes for all students, taking into consideration each student's educational and developmental backgrounds and focusing on each student's needs.
Contextual Factors-Student Information
Reflection:
This is the student information slide of my contextual factors for my Tarleton Teacher Work Sample that I completed. For this, I had to collect some information from the students and use the information to help plan lessons for a unit lesson plan.
From this collected information, I learned how to use it to create lesson plans. The last lesson of the unit was over compound interest. I was capable of using their age range and interest of sports to compare compound interest to their lives.
Teachers exhibit a comprehensive understanding of their content, discipline, and related pedagogy as demonstrated through the quality of the design and execution of lessons and their ability to match objectives and activities to relevant state standards.
Part of lesson plan done for micro teach
Reflection:
This is part of a lesson plan that I did for a micro teach in the fall semester of 2020 for my block III class. The lesson was over determinants of matrices and Cramer's rule. This shows mastery of this standard by showing my ability to plan a lesson based on my content of mathematics. I taught this lesson to a class in either October or November. The class taught in was at the Pre-Ap level.
From this, I learned how to put a lesson plan into action. Creating lesson plans in the education classes is one thing. I can create a lesson plan based on my content knowledge. However, putting the lesson plan into action is another thing that does not always turn out the way you want it to. It is always important to have the plan so that you can adjust as needed.
Teachers interact with students in respectful ways at all times, maintaining a physically and emotionally safe, supportive learning environment that is characterized by efficient and effective routines, clear expectations for student behavior, and organization that maximizes student learning.
Artifact
Reflection:
This is a picture of the classroom that I have been student teaching in. In the classroom, there are rules posted for the students to be able to look at year round. In this class learning environment, The students have a clear routine when entering the room. Some routines include the front table having the notes for the day for the students to pick up when they enter and the absent bins by the door for them to pick up missed work.
I have learned that some of these simple routines can easily change the learning environment. Having these routines in place has helped manage student behavior and has helped maximize effective class time. If these routines were not in place, it would take extra class time to deal with giving students make up work and passing out the notes for the day.
Teachers use formal and informal methods to assess student growth aligned to instructional goals and course objectives and regularly review and analyze multiple sources of data to measure student progress and adjust instructional strategies and content delivery as needed.
Teacher Work Sample-Data Chart
Reflection:
This is one of the graphs from my Tarleton Teacher Work Sample that I had to complete while student teaching. For this chart, I created a pre-test/post-test that was given to the students at the beginning and end of a unit plan. This graph is a comparison from pre-test and post-test for each of the four objectives. The graph demonstrates mastery of data-driven practice by showing the progress of my students from beginning to end of a unit.
Throughout this data assessment, I learned about the different things that can affect lesson plans as well as student performances. This unit was material that the students learned in 8th grade and Algebra I. However, it had been long enough that they had forgotten most of the material. The vocabulary for objective 3 was straightforward vocabulary that the students used to understand the questions so there was not much improvement since they already knew it. I used this data to reflect on each individual objective to see what can work in the future for these units.
Teachers consistently hold themselves to a high standard for individual development, pursue leadership opportunities, collaborate with other educational professionals, communicate regularly with stakeholders, maintain professional relationships, comply with all campus and school district policies, and conduct themselves ethically and with integrity.
Screenshot of the Fundamental Advisory website
Reflection:
The artifact I have included is a screenshot of the Fundamental Advisory website. The Fundamental Advisory group sent an advisor to Stephenville ISD to train the teachers and faculty about cultural awareness and inclusion. From this, we collaborated with colleagues to discuss the different issues we have seen in the classroom and how we can help prevent said issues. This shows mastery of this standard by the opportunity to develop professionally and my ability to continuously be learning how to improve my classroom.
From this, I learned about the importance of equity and justice in the classroom. We want to make sure students have an equal opportunity to learn. Even if it means making special accommodations for another student to have that same opportunity. This is important because we need to make sure no student is left out because of something out of their control.
