Pick a favorite book and read for 20 minutes then discuss the main idea or the story elements!
Write a letter to someone that you would like to communicate with instead of calling, video chatting, or emailing.
Discuss ways to earn Kindness Tickets and how to fill up someone's bucket at home or in the community (please see below).
Talk with an adult at home about times that using a mindful minute might be helpful. Make a list and then see how many times you are able to use it today!
Clear a space in your house, or bundle up and go outside with an adult. Try doing the following routine for three rounds:
25 jumping jacks
25 alternating toe touches
10 push ups
hop on one foot 10x each
10 air squats
Ultimate challenge includes: 10 burpees (!!!)
After you finish, take some time to walk around, get a drink and stretch your body out safely. Notice how your body feels and do a self check in again after about 30 minutes. It's important while we are home to "keep moving"- it keeps our bodies and brains healthy. I did this challenge this morning and I feel great!
Go to the Super Subjects tab! Check out all of the project ideas. Ms. Brooke has created a folder for you to drop at home art project photos into!
BREATHE and try some yoga or stretching!
Take some time to reflect this morning, on your week. Reflecting on PIRR: perseverance, integrity, responsibility & respect- see if you can use the following talking points to reflect with someone in your family:
What is one way that you were able to show PIRR this week? How about two ways?
What is one way that you think you could improve next week around one of our core values of PIRR?
Set a goal for this weekend and talk about the goal that you set each morning and reflect each night on the goal you set
Did you fill anyone's bucket this week? If so, what did you do and how did that make others feel?
Watch the short video and practice Mindfulness techniques with Ms. Molly: https://vimeo.com/402148158 & write down at least THREE intentions you have for week three, put this in a safe place- we will revisit these on Friday to see if we accomplished them!
Log into IXL and complete some tasks today! I am so proud of the responsibility I am seeing and hearing about at home! I can't wait to see how many shout outs I continue to receive this week!
Talk about the word resilient with your family! Define it, use it in a sentence- write a paragraph about how you and your family are demonstrating resilience. After you are done with your pictures, sentences and paragraphs- send them to your teachers, admin and other family members!
Complete an IXL lesson and get that body MOVING!
1. Name our 4 core values (perseverance, integrity, respect & responsibility) 2. Provide a simple definition (tell what the word means) 3. Give an example of one way that you have demonstrated the core value this week or one way you will work to improve on showing it next week **TRY THIS FOR ALL FOUR CORE VALUES**

Mindful Moment April 13th Complete this mindful moment with your family! This is based upon heartfulness- the kindness portion of mindfulness. This will help you to focus on: your breathing, the present moment and where we feel our feelings. I will continue to use these statements:
May I be peaceful.
May I be happy.
May I be safe.
May I be healthy.
I will send these to my family and community today and every day!

Review & reflect on our habits of work.
Perseverance: these days at home are challenging- but don't stop trying! Reach out if you need help!
Integrity: making good choices is oftentimes difficult when establishing and settling into new routines- but I know you can do it!
Responsibility: taking care of the important things and being accountable- especially difficult when we are away, but find ways that work for you and help you to be responsible.
Respect: This can be tough, because now you might have brothers and sisters and other family members that have needs and "sharing" time and computers and adults is hard!
Try to get outside, despite the cool temperatures. Take a moment to be an observer. Observe and enjoy the sights and sounds- what do you notice? Think about ways that you can protect and conserve natural resources today!

Create a short video, picture, painting, sidewalk chalk creation, letters or cards of appreciation that thank our heroes for all that they are doing during this crisis. Maybe you want to thank a family member that works in the healthcare field, a first responder, more specifically a firefighter or police officer. Think about our cafeteria & maintenance staff, and people working in grocery stores or gas stations, or any community helper serving right now, being brave and keeping us safe and cared for. They are all helpers. If you spend time creating videos, pictures, paintings, sidewalk chalk creations, letters or cards of appreciation please send pictures and videos of these to kauffmanj@tapestryschool.org by Wednesday at 3:00pm and we will make sure to include you in our community-wide shared video!
Think about a plan for how you will either celebrate or contribute to Better World Day tomorrow! Maybe it will be through a kindness rock, supporting our front line working heroes, planting a flower in your yard, making cards for special people in your life, turning the water off as you brush your teeth (water conservation!), or will you teach your very own crew at home and spread the message of PIRR, kindness and giving back to our community?
Take action in your community to make today a Better World for all of us!

5. Close your eyes or look down. As you breathe in and out, pay close attention to your breath.
When your minute is up, reflect with your caretaker on how that minute felt.
