Music has been a part of my life wherever I have gone. I was honored to share my talents and experience with two great groups of students. We sung music by Bill Withers, Bruno Mars, Dave Barnes, and others. We explored the mechanics of voice and performance. Recordings to come.
Mrs. Moulton said, "Let there be science!" So we created this class designed to explore physics through the lens of Rube Goldberg Machines. We explored simples machines and Newton's Laws of Motion. We even played with power tools and fire!
Mrs. Filiss said, "Let there be robotics!" So we created this class. Over the years, TA has acquired quite a collection of robotics equipment. We have had teams compete in Botball and Roborave. We explored various definitions of robotics, sensors and actuators, and basic principles of programming. In Spring 2018, we were honored with Senior Ian McAllister as a student coach.
Built upon the curriculum and protocols of the National Archery in the Schools Program, this class teaches foundational skills in tournament-style archery.
We purchased our first 3d printer in May 2016 and received two more through a competition in January 2017 -- how could we not have a class dedicated to 3d printing. Using Fusion 360, professional CAD software developed by Autodesk, students explore practices and trends in 3d printing.
The idea came to me on the way home from RoboRave 2017, and I was so excited about the idea that I was dangerously distracted while driving. We decided to teach a team of robots to play the song "Renegades" by X Ambassadors. One group build robots that played a guitar, another used two Sphero's to play bass, another used NXT to replicate hand claps, and another group used EV3 and a MIDI controller to replicate percussion. With a lot of hard work and ingenuity, we came very close to accomplishing out goal.
Mrs. Moulton said yes to this idea, and.... I spent my entire Christmas break ignoring most other aspects of my life preparing for this class.
