Have you worked hard this year in your classes? Have you studied, reviewed, practiced, and prepared? Make sure that you are able to perform at your best on test day by having a refreshed and updated device. This site will help you to run through a list of checks BEFORE you sit down to focus on taking your test.
An important part of prepping for your state assessments is getting your device in working order. Follow these tips to make sure that you are ready to perform at your best!
1 - Bring Your Device and Charger to School Every Day
Sharing is caring, but when it comes to your school-issued device, you MUST use the device which was assigned to you by TPSS.
Do not trade or borrow devices with siblings, friends, or other children in your household.
Label your device and charger, to make them easy to identify.
---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
2 - Charge Your Device Every Night
A device with little or no power is not going to serve you well on testing day! Remember to plug your device in each evening.
Designate a charging station at home. Choose a clean space that is out of the way from food, liquid, and younger siblings.
If you notice your device is not keeping its charge, let your teacher know right away.
---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
3 - Update Your Device
An updated device has a better chance of operating as it should. Giving your device a quick check-up before testing will help to ensure that your testing experience runs smoothly.
Click on the TIME in the bottom-right of your Chromebook desktop
Click on the Settings Gear
Choose "About Chrome OS" from the menu
Click "Check for Updates"
RESTART your device to complete the update

5 - Check your Device Settings
You may have changed some of the settings of your Chromebook while working. It is important that your settings are correct, so that you can properly interact with the testing program.
⚙ DEVICE DISPLAY
Click on the TIME in the bottom-right of your Chromebook desktop
Click on the Settings Gear ⚙
Choose "Device" from the menu
Drop-down "Displays"
Make sure the slider is all the way to the left (small - 100%)
Why is the device display important? If the screen is zoomed in too closely, you may not be able to fully see or read important content for your test item.
---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
⚙ DEFAULT LANGUAGE
Click on the TIME in the bottom-right of your Chromebook desktop
Click on the Settings Gear ⚙
Drop-down the "Advanced" section on the menu
Scroll down to choose "Languages and inputs"
Verify that "ENGLISH" is selected for both the language and Inputs & Keyboards
What will happen if the wrong language is selected? Your chromebook may be difficult to navigage if you are unable to read important menus and text on the screen. Also, the keyboard will not function correctly. For example, quoatation marks will not work if the International Keyboard is selected.

6 - Complete your Online System Check for EACH test you are taking.
Now that you have your Chromebook charged, updated, and refreshed, make sure that the program needed to take the test is ready to run on your device. Make this a routine before EVERY test!

Directions on how to do this can be found at the bottom of this page.

Making sure to check this BEFORE testing day, you will have less issues arise with your device. We want you to test your best, so be sure to check-up on your device before your big day.
What if I do not see ADAM on my chromebook? ADAM is only assigned to Chromebooks of students in grades 3 - 12. If you do not see ADAM, it may be possible that you accidentally swapped Chromebooks with a younger sibling or friend. Have your teacher verify that the Chromebook you have does belong to you. If it is your Chromebook and you still do not have ADAM installed, your Chromebook may need to be Power Washed. Your device manager at your school can help with this. Just let your teacher know you need help.
