We have five different options for students to be involved in one of our competitive afterschool FIRST robotics teams. There is a little bit of something for everyone on our teams. From build and programming to business, media and graphic design, we strive to help students develop their both their interpersonal and technical skills and interests.
You do not need to have previous experience with robotics to join. Students who participate have over $80 million in scholarship opportunities post-graduation. One of our recent 2020 grads earned a scholarship through FIRST worth over $150,000 to study engineering.

9/10/22 Season Launch (This year's competition is called "Freight Frenzy.")

Sept-Dec Build Season

Dec-Feb One Regional Qualifier competition per month (will either be remote or in-person)

Feb-Mar FTC State Championship (One LA team will advance to Worlds)

Team meetings take place from 2:30pm - 5:00pm every Tuesday and Thursday during the fall and spring semesters.

From August-December FRC team meetings occur every Tuesday and Thursday from 2:30pm-5pm in the Engineering shop at HHMS. During Build Season in January and February, FRC meets Mondays, Tuesdays, Thursdays and Fridays afterschool and some Saturdays until the robot is built and competition ready. Once the new season robot is built, FRC returns to Tuesday and Thursday meetings each week.
