At Tanfield School, we have over 70 staff that work onsite fulfilling many different roles, including: Teaching staff, Support staff, IT and Technical support, Business support, plus many more!
During the course of your 'Tanfield School Transition Camp' experience, you will have an opportunity to meet a few of our friendly staff. In preparation for this, our staff have put together a quick bio for you!
Mrs Douglas
Assistant Headteacher (SENDCo and Transition Lead)
My name is Mrs Douglas and I am one of the Assistant Head teachers here at Tanfield school. I have taught at Tanfield since 2001 and have seen many changes to the school. My interests outside of school involve sport, in particular netball, football, cricket and gymnastics which are the sports which my children are involved in.

Hello Year 5 and welcome to our Transition Camp page. My name is Mrs Shotton and I am a teacher of English and former pupil. I love being part of Team Tanfield and look forward to welcoming you all. When I am not in school, I enjoy spending time with my family, going to the theatre and taking our cocker spaniel on woodland walks.

Hello Year 5. My name is Miss Baillie and I joined Tanfield in September 2023 as a Learning Support Assistant. Outside of school I enjoy spending time at the beach with my golden retriever, Freddie, and spending time with my family.

Hello Year 5! My name is Mr Smith and my job is Year Manager of Year 11 at Tanfield School. I really enjoy my job, being part of Team Tanfield , supporting students and working closely with parents to make sure that each individual feels comfortable in their learning environment. When I am not at work , I enjoy going to the gym , outdoor walks and listening to music. I am also a lifelong supporter of Newcastle United and enjoy watching them when they play.
