Year 5

Transition Camps

Hard Work  |  Trust  |  Fairness

Welcome

At Tanfield School we have many minds but one mission: to get students to attend the best university, or real alternative, succeed in their dream job and thrive in all aspects of their life. We value the importance of a smooth transition from primary to secondary school and recognise that it is a big step for students and parents. As such, we aim to provide a wide range of opportunities to enable students to feel at home quickly; to settle into our academic and social environment and to feel part of the Tanfield community.

Tanfield School has an excellent induction programme, which starts in Year 4 and includes a variety of activities ranging from Information Events, transition events, STEM challenges, school tours and a 3-day transition event. To further help students prepare for the move to secondary school, we have developed a number of ‘Team Tanfield’ One-Day Transition Camps. Transition Camps are open to students in Year 5 (starting Year 6 in September). Our one-day camp is bookable now and will run during the the summer break:

Tuesday 20th August 2024 - 10am - 3pm

Registration is open from 9:45am.

Please note: All camp are for current Year 5 (starting Year 6 in September) students only.

We believe that students who participate in these camps will find the transition into secondary school and becoming a valued member of ‘Team Tanfield’ much more straightforward.  By attending these camps, students will have the opportunity to experience learning at Key Stage 3, build self-esteem and confidence, form connections with their peers and develop a sense of belonging whilst making new friends and enjoying themselves.

If you would like your child to attend, please book via the online booking system that can be found on the front page of our website, alternatively, click here to access the online booking system. We anticipate a lot of interest and places will be given on a first come, first served basis. There is no charge for attending. A packed lunch will be required.

We do hope your child will attend these events and we look forward to welcoming you and your family to Team Tanfield!
