The Tanfield Railway Company Ltd (TRCo) will be responsible for issuing keys and monitoring keyholder information
Keys remain the property of TRCo.
All keys that are provided by the TRCo are the responsibility of the key holder.
Keyholders should not make copies of keys or sets of keys, under any circumstances
The keys must not be loaned to other people and may only be used by the key holder, unless agreed in advance with the Security Group. Any key(s) found in the possession of an unauthorised person will be confiscated immediately
The key holder must ensure they keep the keys with them at all times while onsite. Key holders must keep keys in a safe and secure place when they are not onsite.Â
The keys should not have any indication of what they are for, to minimise the risk if keys are stolen or found.
If a key holder ceases to be an active volunteer, the keys should be returned to the TRCo as soon as possible. Keys may not be transferred to another person.
The keyholder who unlocks the gate at Marley Hill becomes responsible for the entire Marley Hill site, ie sheds, stations, yards, car parks, roads, etc in general
The keyholder who unlocks the gate at East Tanfield becomes responsible for the entire East Tanfield site, ie sheds, station, yards, car parks, roads, etc in general
When the keyholder opens a building, he becomes responsible for the security & safety of everything & everyone in that building
Responsibility for either MH or ET ceases when everyone and their vehicles are off the site, car parks are clear, buildings and gates are locked and security systems are armed
A keyholder may leave the site & buildings open only if they pass full responsibility to another recognized keyholder with their agreement
If the responsible keyholder has to leave the site and no other keyholder is available, they should contact a member of the security group prior to leaving the site. The phone numbers of members of the security group can be found in the back office, AH and ET Stations
If key holders lose their keys whilst on site, they should secure the site as much as possible and contact a member of the security group prior to leaving the site. The phone numbers of members of the security group can be found in the back office, AH and ET Stations
If you lose your keys, the TRCo should be informed. A lost key may require one or more locks to be replaced, which may cost a substantial amount of time and money, as well as increasing vulnerability.
