Dr. Jason L. Harris

Engineering Fellow, Front End R&D at Ethicon, a Johnson & Johnson Company

Dr. Harris ’02 is an Engineering Fellow at Ethicon, a MedTech company within the Johnson & Johnson family of companies.  He is a recognized leader in early-stage innovation and is currently the Front End R&D Lead responsible for creating and shaping the pipeline of products within Ethicon’s laparoscopic surgical devices portfolio.  Over his career, he has helped launch numerous products that have touched the lives of millions of patients worldwide.  He is passionate about innovation and the opportunity to improve patient outcomes.  Dr. Harris is a co-inventor on more than 900 US patents to date with over 500 US patent applications currently pending.  He has co-authored 25 peer reviewed publications and has been an invited speaker at numerous technical and surgical events globally.  For his contributions to engineering, his impact on society, and his dedication to Texas A&M, Dr. Harris was the recipient of Outstanding Alumni Award presented by the Department of Biomedical Engineering at Texas A&M in 2022.  Dr. Harris received his BSE and MS degrees in Mechanical Engineering from the University of Maryland, Baltimore County and his PhD degree in Biomedical Engineering from Texas A&M University.
