Once again, the US Army Corps of Engineers is recruiting candidates for our 2024 Summer Park Rangers for Hords Creek, Navarro Mills, Proctor, Waco, and Whitney Lakes in north-central Texas. Sea Grant’s Community Engaged Internship (CEI) aims to broaden participation in coastal, ocean and marine sciences by offering paid internships to students in any field of study, with an interest in coastal and marine sciences. The CEI is a national program partnering with Sea Grant at colleges and universities in all coastal states. This is an 8-10 week internship experience with $6000 stipend.

Coastal Prairie Grazing Land Coalition is seeking 2-3 highly qualified students from around the state who have a serious interest in becoming a ranch manager to participate in our 6th annual summer internship program. Harris County, TX - Forestry Summer Intern, Flood Control District
The Harris County Flood Control District (District) is seeking interns to join their Vegetation Management team. The team services a wide range of vegetation types and programs that include over 2,500 miles of channels, basins and buy-out lots throughout Harris County. Interns will work closely with the department’s staff forester in connection with the District’s tree inventory and assessment program. This is a 12-week paid internship program that will provide candidates with an exciting opportunity to learn ‘real world’ experience and gain clarity on their ideal career path.

This internship opportunity is available to veterans and military spouses/dependents. Interns will be involved in monitoring monarchs and their habitats, as well as creating environmental education and outreach programs about pollinators, monarchs, and migratory species to be given at military bases.

The Houston Arboretum & Nature Center is looking for undergraduate students entering their Junior or Senior year, or recently graduated students with an interest in conservation, ecological restoration, and environmental research for a summer internship position. This internship is designed for hands-on environmental work as well as performing research, allowing students to receive university credit hours. This is a 10-week paid internship. The camp is located about an hour and a half from Charleston, South Carolina, at Camp Bob Cooper, directly on Lake Marion (South Carolina’slargest lake). A majority of the camp week will focus on hunting and fishing techniques, wildlife ecology, outdoor survival skills, and shooting sports activities (shotgun, rifle, and archery). Instructors will be trained and certified through USA Archery, South Carolina 4H Shooting Sports, and the South Carolina Department of Natural Resources. In addition to these activities, we will also utilize other components such as swimming, team building, and various recreation activities. Interns will be able to gain experience in the day-to-day operations of an educational, non-profit-focused, private green space. The roughly 800 acres of space is located in the heart of Fort Bend County.
Surrounded by neighborhoods bordering the Brazos River, the property includes coastal plains, clumps of trees, a stocked 6-acre lake, a main visitor center used for meeting space, and several outbuildings. LAR does not have livestock or penned animals, as wildlife roams freely on the land.
The emphasis for the interns will be on assisting the ranch staff in the day-to-day operations of this unique educational ranch, whose mission is to support and encourage people to lead more productive and satisfying lives, to experience and enhance their spirituality and well-being, and to preserve and celebrate nature. Ideal candidates will have a strong
interest in educating all ages, from children to adults, about land and wildlife conservation.
