Let's take a journey with an Arctic iceberg. Our journey begins at the Greenland ice cap, where as snow we fell forming deep layers of ice. The more snow that fell the more packed we became in the large bowl of central Greenland. We are now a glaciers moving slowly towards the ocean. As we reach the ocean it is summer. The wind, waves, and currents work on us until we break off our mother glacier and are carried from our birth place to the far south by the chilly Labrador Current. On this leg of our journey, the resonance of the waves cause us to fracture, leaving little growlers and bergy bits in our wake. Eventually we reach the warmer waters of the Gulf Stream and quickly melt away.
