This instructional guide is intended for college students who need to create presentations for academic assignments, class projects, or extracurricular events. These students may come from a variety of disciplines, each with different levels of experience in using design tools or AI-based software. While many are familiar with traditional platforms like PowerPoint or Google Slides, tools that incorporate AI technology—like Gamma—may be unfamiliar.
Students often face challenges, including balancing visuals and text, ensuring their slides appear polished and professional, and managing time effectively when working under deadlines. We surveyed with a small number of college students of different majors, and every student surveyed had been required at some point to create a visual representation. Common struggles involved planning, clarity, lack of customizability, and professionalism. The majority of our student audience already has some experience using AI for this purpose, so this guide is tailored to assist them at their skill level.
This guide is designed to meet the needs of students by offering clear, step-by-step instructions, helpful tips, and visual examples that demystify Gamma’s AI-driven features. Based on our survey, we found that students would be more likely than not to utilize an AI program to assist with visual presentation design. Whether a student is building a presentation from scratch or seeking to enhance the design of existing content, this guide offers a structured and accessible entry point.
