Each time you add an item to the stream that has a due date, an event is also created in that class's Google Calendar. That Calendar can then be shared with students and parents.
If you make the calendar accessible to the public you can give the parents the link and then they can keep track of when things are due as well.
To do this, go into Google Calendar and click on the three vertical dots to the right of the calendar you want to share. Then click Settings and Sharing. Scroll down to sharing settings, make the calendar public, then copy the URL.
You can also add guardian email addresses for each student. This allows you to easily email guardians, and it gives them the option to set up a daily or weekly update via email of what their child has completed, what they have coming due, and what is late. There is not much more information in those updates other than assignment titles, descriptions, and due dates. There are no links to Classroom assignments or artifacts. It is simply an informational update. Adding a guardian’s email does NOT give them access to your Google Classroom.
