Anyone who has anxiety issues is all too familiar with how strongly “Murphy’s Law” takes control of our thoughts: "any thing that can go wrong will go wrong." This form of thinking is a simulation. Dreams in which we are late and everything goes wrong are typical examples of such simulations. By recognizing the exaggerated, often slap-stick quality of such stories, we can liberate ourselves from their oppressive hold on our thoughts.
