Anyone who has anxiety issues is all too familiar with how strongly “Murphy’s Law” takes control of our thoughts. To help offset this bias, we need to remind ourselves that these automatic thoughts are actually simulations, a form of self-parody that have the potential of liberate us if we can recognize how much they exaggerate. The mind isn't attacking itself; it is staging an inner farce, to release tension, to evoke a sense of comic relief.
