Itinerant Music Classes

Tahuna Intermediate is proud to offer individual and small group instrumental lessons by qualified tutors who visit us throughout the week; these Itinerant Music lessons take place during class time, only drum lessons take place after school. We are very lucky to have an amazing group of teachers come in to provide students with the opportunity to learn and develop on their chosen instruments.

Guitar and Bass

Che Long LLb (Hons), B.Tech Mus, Dip NZMSM. Che is a guitar and bass teacher at schools throughout Dunedin.

Group Lessons $80 per termPrivate Lessons $30 per lesson (30mins). $300 per term - based on 10 week term.

Piano

Ahila James, PhD, MMus, LTCL Perf, ATCL Tchg, DipNZMSM, AIRMTNZ. (individual) and group keyboard lessons (up to four students per group) offered by friendly, highly qualified and experienced teacher with professional accreditation with the Institute of Registered Music Teachers NZ. Lessons are adapted according to student’s’ unique abilities, learning style and goals whilst utilising a fun & supportive style in Classical, Modern & Contemporary Piano. All students will have the opportunity to enter Practical & Theory examinations, annual Competitions, if available, and participate in piano recitals.

Jack McRae has been drumming for over 17 years, he is in musltiple NZ bands and has a passion for teaching as well as playing drums.

"I love the expression, the creativity, and the social aspect of music and

drumming – and my goal is to share, cultivate, and encourage everyone to

have a go with drumming."

Woodwind

Nick Cornish , We are very lucky to have Nick teach at our school, he is a world-class musician. A classically trained double-reed specialist (oboe, bassoon) as well as a professional Jazz saxophonist and clarinetist, Nick plays in bands and orchestras throughout the South Island and has often been called on to play with the NZSO.

Cello/Double Bass

Johanna Brusse is the lower strings Itinerant Teacher in schools around Dunedin with her specialty being the cello. A member of several orchestras on cello and double bass, Johanna also conducts several groups at schools and Saturday Morning Music Classes.
