Tahuna Intermediate is proud to offer individual and small group instrumental lessons by qualified tutors who visit us throughout the week; these Itinerant Music lessons take place during class time and after school. We are very lucky to have an amazing group of teachers come in to provide students with the opportunity to learn and develop on their chosen instruments.

Guitar and Bass
Che Long LLb (Hons), B.Tech Mus, Dip NZMSM. Che is a guitar and bass teacher at schools throughout Dunedin.
Group Lessons $80 per termPrivate Lessons $30 per lesson (30mins). $300 per term - based on 10 week term.

Piano
Ahila James, PhD, MMus, LTCL Perf, ATCL Tchg, DipNZMSM, AIRMTNZ. Ahila is a dedicated pianist and teacher with thirtysix years experience teaching people of all ages and abilities. Lessons are on an expert one-to-one basis and pupils are encouraged to develop their own performance styles in classical, modern & contemporary piano. All students will have the opportunity to enter practical & theory examinations, annual competitions, and participate in piano recitals.

Scott Ke, Bachelors of Music in drum performance and studio production, minoring in management.
Grade 8 St Cecilia School of Music Drum performance full score high distinction.
Associate Diploma of drum teaching St Cecilia School of Music.

Woodwind
Nick Cornish , We are very lucky to have Nick teach at our school, he is a world-class musician. A classically trained double-reed specialist (oboe, bassoon) as well as a professional Jazz saxophonist and clarinetist, Nick plays in bands and orchestras throughout the South Island and has often been called on to play with the NZSO.
Lessons are $200 per term
Brass
Paul Claman is a phenomenal musician across a range of brass instruments, his speciality being trombone. Paul has played extensively with classical orchestras in New Zealand, Brass Bands, Concert Bands and or course the beloved Dunedin City Jazz Orchestra.

Cello/Double Bass
Johanna Brusse is the lower strings Itinerant Teacher in schools around Dunedin with her specialty being the cello. A member of several orchestras on cello and double bass, Johanna also conducts several groups at schools and Saturday Morning Music Classes.
