Curriculum Music

Tahuna Normal Intermediate School is proud to offer a dedicated music suite equipped with fabulous instruments of all kinds, and up to date audio equipment.

Music is taught as a curriculum subject throughout the year and aims to provide a wide range of practical music experiences.

Classes come to the Music Room fortnightly for 45 minutes. Units include Taongo Pūoro, djembe, digital and electronic music, marimba and ukulele. Students develop an understanding of literacies in music and theoretical skills as they listen and respond,  sing and play, create and improvise.

Tahuna Intermediate students contribute to the cultural life of the school community by learning to perform and share the outcomes of their learning. This subject intends to lay the foundation for lifelong enjoyment and participation in music.
