When/why do I use a tools training test?

• Tools Training is required for all students to complete in each subject area before testing begins.

• The purpose of the training tests is to help students, teachers, and parents become familiar with the various item types, tools, and navigation used in the online testing system; the tests are not intended to guide classroom instruction.

• If an item appears to be too difficult, encourage students to experiment with the tools, choose the best answer, and move on to the next item.

• Training tests are available for ELA, Math, Science and ELL.

• Student responses to the training test are not saved or scored. Students can take them an unlimited amount of times and TAs are encouraged to answer all questions students have as they learn to navigate the system.
