Mrs. Sund
About Me
Hello! I am Deanna Sund, and I have worked with the Tahoma School District for 20 years as a third-grade teacher, 5th-grade teacher, reading teacher, and as a reading specialist for the past eight years. I am a native Upstate New Yorker who made my way to Washington via Germany. I have earned a Bachelor's Degree in Music from SUNY Potsdam, a Master's in Teaching from the City University of Seattle, a Reading Endorsement from Seattle Pacific University, and a Master's Degree in School Building Leadership from Teachers' College, Columbia University.
Throughout my teaching career, I have found many parallels between music and reading instruction and believe reading is a fundamental skill necessary for student success in any content area. I am passionate about providing equitable and responsive reading instruction to support the needs of our diverse learners and love being able to support both teachers and students with reading instruction.
When I am not at school, I enjoy reading, exploring educational research, playing music, gardening, riding my horse, and spending time with my husband and daughter, who are both Tahoma graduates!
